A recent study entitled “The Changing Faces of Beauty : A Global Report” surveyed 8000 women across 16 countries (Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Mexico, Netherlands, South Korea, Spain, Thailand, Turkey, UK and the US) on their opinion about beauty, aging and on their attitude toward medical aesthetic procedures. This unique mega-project identified a changing trend shared by women across the globe : Women are no longer seeking medical aesthetic procedures only for beauty, the are now seeking Botox injections, Dermal Filler treatments and various laser procedures to boost their self-confidence.
“The Changing Faces of Beauty : A Global Report” reveals that women from all 4 corners of the world share an increasing desire to take charge of how they look and how they are aging.
3 Key findings of this study are:
- 42% of women admit seeking aesthetic treatments to boost their Self Confidence.
- 75% of women say they are receiving Botox and Dermal Filler treatments to look good for themselves first. This is in comparaison to only 37% who say they recieve such treatments to look good for their partner or to impress their friends (15%).
- Women desire general Beautification instead of asking for the correction of a specific line or fold.
Women want to control how they look and how their looks evolve over time. And whether they live on the American continent, in Europe or anywhere else in the world for that matter, this Global Report clearly demonstrates that women are not only better educated about the various non surgical medical treatment options available to them, they also better understand the benefits of a global treatment approach and they are empowering themselves with the right to obtain such treatments for themselves and as a mean to feel better about themselves.
The findings of this study mirror the changes both in knowledge and attitudes that I have seen in my own practice over the past 17 years of working as a medical aesthetic physician. I see it as my role to listen and understand what motivates each and every one of my clients, when they come to see me. I see each client as an individual; each with beauty and each with needs that demand attention.
