Glycolic acid Peel are recommended for women and men whose skin show early signs of aging and those dealing with acne. Glycolic Acids are naturally occurring Alpha Hydroxy Acid (AHA) derived from sugar cane. Of all the AHAs, glycolic acid is the smallest molecule with the highest penetration affinity for the skin. It is the most widely recommended of all the AHAs.

Glycolic acids loosens the superficial cells, allow the dead cells to slough off and act as exfoliants by speeding up the skin's natural shedding process (which slows down as we age) and by stimulating new growth of skin cells. They help remove what is often an excess of dead surface cells and allow healthier-looking skin to emerge.

The Alpha Hydroxy Acids (AHA) used in this Medical Grade NeoStrata System increases the skin's natural ability to retain moisture yet reduces oiliness and unclogs pores in acne prone skin.

The results are controlled by the strength of the acid (20, 35, 50 or 70%) and the duration of time (2 to 5 minutes) the acid is in contact with the skin.

The indications are:

• Photo damaged and dull looking skin
• Fine lines and excessively dry skin
• Active acne, excessively oily skin
• Pigmentation irregularities

The treatments take about 20 minutes and are very comfortable. You will feel nothing more than a slight tingling sensation. It will leave your skin looking radiant and revitalized. You may experience slight dryness of your skin for a few days after the treatment. This is a normal side effect; it means that the dead cells are sloughing off.

The intervals between the treatments are 2-6 weeks depending on the indications. The frequency of the peels depends on the desired effect but the minimum recommended is a series of 6 peels. In order to maintain your results after your initial series is done, it is recommended that you continue with a peel maintenance treatment every 4 to 8 weeks.
